The People of the Eye: Deaf Ethnicity and Ancestry
The People of the Eye: Deaf ethnicity and ancestry video in American Sign Language.
Are Deaf people who sign American Sign Language (ASL) an ethnic group? Harlan Lane's latest book, The People of the Eye, compares the values, customs and social organization of the Deaf World to those in ethnic groups.
The People of the Eye also describes founding families of the Deaf World in the US. It traces Deaf ancestry back hundreds of years.
It shows that Deaf people preferred to marry other Deaf people, which led to the creation of Deaf clans.
Video by northeasternriec
Nowadays most ASL signers are born into the Deaf World, and many are kin. The People of the Eye tells how Deaf people (and hearing people, too) lived in early America.
For readers curious about their own ancestry in relation to the Deaf World, there are family trees in the book and an associated website presents pedigrees for over two hundred Deaf families extending as many as three hundred years. The book contains an every-name index to the pedigrees.
The authors are: Harlan Lane (H), Richard Pillard (H) and Ulf Hedberg (D).

Deaf Girl Dies of Bacterial Meningitis by Cochlear Implant
Deaf girl dies of bacterial meningitis by cochlear implant.
OMAHA, Neb. - An Omaha girl died of bacterial meningitis over the weekend after deteriorating very quickly. Katie Engle, 7, was a second-grader at Washington Elementary School. Her mother, Roxanne, said her daughter came home school on Friday not feeling well. She was dead the next day. The first symptom a headache showed up a few days earlier. Katie was admitted to a hospital on Friday. Engle said her daughter didn't have the other symptoms associated with bacterial meningitis, which include vomiting, fever and lethargy, until she got to the hospital. Doctors said bacterial meningitis is not contagious. They believe it may have been caused by Katie's cochlear implant. They said it could have been prevented with a vaccination.

On the surface, cochlear implants sound like a promising medical solution to the problems surrounding hearing loss or total deafness. A cochlear implant uses existing nerves and electronic signals to override damaged auditory nerves, thus restoring a sense of hearing to the recipient. However, this technology has also caused serious divisions within the deaf community concerning the hearing society's position on deafness in general.
A number of members of the Deaf community choose to view their Deaf status as a subculture of society, in the same sense as a Hispanic person would embrace his or her Hispanic culture. Deafness is not a handicapperse, but a shared experience which gives the Deaf community its unique cultural identity. To members of this Deaf subculture, cochlear implants are considered disrespectful and insulting, since the medical community views deafness as a handicap which must be treated or corrected.
As seen at: http://www.cochlearwar.com/myths_and_facts.html
Certain factions of the Deaf community also believe a deaf person's ability to live a full and meaningful life is not compromised by his or her deafness, so the suggestion that cochlear implants provide advantages over a Deaf lifestyle is shortsighted and insensitive. Many Deaf people cope very well with their deafness, learning sign language and lip reading and adapting their work and home environments to accommodate their loss of hearing. Perhaps the cochlear implant is only for the MONEY as the dirty business? as seen on Cochlear Business Is Dirty Business! with closed captioned.
Another controversy surrounding cochlear implants and the Deaf community is the safety and effectiveness of the procedure. Cochlear implantation involves major surgery in an area of the body filled with delicate nerves which control facial movements. One mistake during surgery could cause long-term facial paralysis, also and it is might be a risk to cochlear implant users where the thunderstorms approaching as seen on: Cochlear Implant User Struck By Lightning
Cochlear implants can also destroy any remaining healthy auditory nerves, which means a Deaf person could lose all remnants of natural hearing which may have helped them adjust to a deaf lifestyle. Cochlear implants require the recipient to undergo significant fine-tuning sessions, and success can vary widely from recipient to recipient.
The controversy over cochlear implants often pits hearing parents against Deaf parents when it comes to raising their Deaf children in a hearing world. Many Deaf parents would prefer to raise their Deaf child in a Deaf culture, including the use of sign language and lip reading. Hearing parents who are not familiar with the Deaf community may opt for the cochlear implant surgery to correct their Deaf child's perceived handicap as seen at: Cochlear Implant Cruelty -deafness.about.com
The result may be a Deaf child who can partially hear, or a hearing child with a Deaf cultural heritage. Either way, the child may face social ostracism from both communities if the parents do not consider the long-term effects of cochlear implant surgery. Not all members of the Deaf community view cochlear implants as an unnecessary procedure, but hearing parents facing a difficult decision concerning a Deaf child may want to research both sides of the controversy before committing to cochlear implant surgery.

History of Abandonment/Abuse
History tends to repeat itself and this is especially true of abuse and neglect patterns. Parents who experienced abuse, neglect or abandonment at the hands of someone when they were a child are more likely to repeat the pattern and abuse, neglect or abandon their own children. UNICEF estimates that 13 million children worldwide have been abandoned by both parents for various reasons, abuse and neglect among them. Watch the video in behavioral problems for not learning in sign language and oppression as seen on YouTube: Alone In A Hearing World
Handicap/Illness of Child
A child born with a handicap, birth defect or chronic illness has a higher chance of being abandoned by their parents. Since infants and children are needy to begin with, parents living with a child with a chronic condition may not be able to cope with the increased demands of their child. Like parents who live in poverty, these parents believe their child will be better off without them and abandon these child to the foster care system or to live with other relatives.
Behavioral Problems
All children experience behavior problems as they grow and learn about the world around them. For some parents, their child's misbehavior is a source of extreme stress they are unable to handle. Other parents have children with extreme, even criminal, behavior that they are unable or unwilling to control. These children are at an increased risk of being removed from their parent's care or having their parents find alternative placement situations for them. Man found innocent of killing Deaf 15-year-old girlfriend in 1981.
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - Gary Albert, pudgier than his 1981 yearbook showed him and wearing glasses, walked out of the Bridgeview courthouse Monday night a free man, acquitted of the cold case murder of his pregnant, 15-year-old Deaf girlfriend.
Jurors who heard five days of evidence against Albert, who 30 years ago was an 18-year-old Deaf student at Hinsdale South High School, decided in less than an hour that he did not kill Dawn Niles as prosecutors had charged. “Mr. Albert, you are free to go,” Judge Joan M. O’Brien told the 49-year-old, and once the American Sign Language interpreter relayed her words, Albert looked up at the ceiling. His mother uttered “Oh dear God” and burst into tears... PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland police release video of an ASL Interpreter Occupy Portland protester injured during camp eviction. Justin James Bridges, a local musician and American Sign Language translator for Occupy Portland, was allegedly assaulted by the police during the camp clean out on Sunday afternoon.

Many Portlanders know Bridges well, as he performs at hemp festivals, freedom rallies and has been a fixture at Occupy Portland since the beginning. His story does not jive with that of the Portland Police Bureau news release.
Here is what Justin recalls, in his own words, “Yesterday during our general assembly down in camp, I was interpreting for the deaf, like I always do for a General Assembly... Read more: http://www.salem-news.com/articles/november142011/occupy-injuries.php

This didn't come out completely as I planned, but I guess the gist of my message is there. I just think it's important to remember that you're 'famous' because of ASL... and now you are not including the Deaf community in your new endeavors at all.
It seems sort of ironic that by wanting to become a part of the YouTube community, you are saying goodbye to another one (maybe not personally, but publicly as a YouTube figure). As a hearing person, I can't speak for Deaf people, but I think this is the reason why they're sometimes hesitant about hearing people entering/representing their community. Maybe you could try to do some vlogs about Deaf related things, or include them somehow.
Allyballybabe has something in her YouTube "about me" that I've always liked: "one more thing i am very concerned about. though ASL is extremely beautiful and interesting, it is important to remember WHERE and WHO ASL came from... the Deaf. " Just some thoughts.

AG Bell & CI Companies
Blog has past quotes from Advanced Bionics and Cochlear Americas explaining what their role in AG Bell Association's Circle Alliance has been. A plea to AG Bell Association to reconsider who it keeps company with.

Notice of the suits against Advanced Bionics: http://www.weitzlux.com/failed-cochlearimplants_1937570.html
In March I had vlogged about Advanced Bionics being the top banner on the AG Bell Homepage. Advanced Bionics had been sued by a law firm which has a Deaf lawyer who has a CI but was representing cases of Deaf adults and children who had gotten shocks and other adverse reactions to failed CIs manufactured by Advanced Bionics due to moisture leaks and faulty CIs.
Since that time AG Bell has removed Advanced Bionics from its top banner. Great news. Perhaps the cochlear implant is only for the MONEY as the dirty business? as seen on Cochlear Business Is Dirty Business! with captioned.
This Is The Best Art Performance By Deaf People
Video: This is the best art performance by Deaf people.
The video of the Chinese Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe, "Thousand-hand Guan Yin" Guan Yin is a Chinese goddess. Feeling music through speakers and guided by hand gestures, a troupe of Deaf dancers in Beijing, China take steps to champion the rights of disabled people across the world.
"Being Deafness, these disabled female performers endure pain and suffering in vigorous training, simply to deliver a message of love to mankind. "
Guanyin or Kwanyin (aka), the Goddess of Mercy also known by Westerners as the Chinese Goddess of love and compassion has long occupied a unique place not only in Buddhism, but also in Chinese culture. The Chinese word "Guanyin is an abbreviation of "Guan shi yin" which denotes" seeing the voice of the world if rendered literally. Such a deity can be called as the deity who looks in every direction or the "Regarder of the cries of suffering beings".
Video by eursweet7
According to legend, Guanyin, the youngest daughter of a king, defied her father when he sought a husband for her. The angry king sent her away to a monastery with instructions that she should be compelled to obey. This only strengthened her resolve. So the king set fire to the monastery and ordered her execution when she was caught sitting erect reciting sutras. As she was about to be beheaded, the sword broke into two and a tiger from nowhere carried her away to a forest.
One day from afar she saw the king was sick and not responding to treatment, so she severed her arms and eyes to sacrifice them for him. The grieved king besought heaven and earth to make his daughter whole again. Soon, Guanyin had arms and eyes by the thousand, and bowing before her father, she urged him to practise good deeds to which the king readily agreed.
Actually legends have Guanyin in various forms. But the story of the Goddess in this one-thousand-hand form has had an immense appeal. Thus the thousand-hand deity is no longer an exclusive religious symbol but has become a popular cultural icon to religious followers and common folks alike.
The legendary Thousand-hand Guanyin as interpreted by the special artists plucked the heartstrings of the audience. In their rendition of the legendary goddess, they not only demonstrated their superb dancing skills in perfect unison with elegant and forceful movements, but attained a ye higher level to turn it into a live myth full of artistic appeal and stirring power on the stage.
Though we only saw one leading dancer on the stage, we saw in our mind's eye a whole collective where 21 troupe members fused together as one human being with one shared heart. What we saw on the stage was the one Thousand-hand Guanyin, serene, holy and beautiful, that existed in each of the dancers' hearts. While enjoying the colourful performance, we experienced a profound sense of tranquility and composure, a process of cleansing and purification of our souls.
We spetators can hardly imagine how much time and effort these artists must have invested in bringing about such a unique work of art. And only a collective with all its crew members bound together in unity, harmony and friendliness could make it.
The image of the Thousand-hand Guanyin is symbolic of maternal love and infinite compassion.
And the enlightenment we gain from the performance itself is that people with disabilities are also creators of both material and spiritual wealth. Such a spirit of perseverance in pursuing and creating a better life in the face of adversity should be followed by all of us.

HIGHLAND, Mich (WXYZ) - They don’t hear music the way many of us do, but perhaps they hear it the way it’s supposed to be heard: through the whole body.
Ten-year-old Noah Rangel of Lake Orion is Deaf, but that didn’t stop him from feeling the pulse of the White Stripes’ song “We’re Going to be Friends” when he signed the lyrics in a new music video . “Instead of standing and talking and hearing the music like that, we can feel the music,” signed Noah, using American Sign Language. “We just stand and sign the song instead. So it’s really not that much different.”
The Deaf Professional Arts Network, also known as D-Pan, coordinated the music video this summer, shooting it in Bloomfield Hills and featuring children who are either deaf or hard-of-hearing.

Rangel’s friend, Morgan Nimmo, also appeared in the video, which has gone viral. “I did good!” said seven-year old Morgan during an interview at her home in Highland. “I thought I was going to do bad, but I was great. I was proud of myself.” With more than 258,000 hits on YouTube.com in just a week and a half, she certainly has something to be proud of.

lyrics:
Fall is here, hear the yell back to school, ring the bell brand new shoes, walking blues climb the fence, books and pens I can tell that we're going to be friends.
Walk with me, Suzy Lee through the park and by the tree we will rest upon the ground and look at all the bugs we found then safely walk to school without a sound.
Well here we are, no one else we walked to school all by ourselves there's dirt on our uniforms from chasing all the ants and worms we clean up and now its time to learn.
Numbers, letters, learn to spell nouns, and books, and show and tell at playtime we will throw the ball back to class, through the hall teacher marks our height against the wall.
And we don't notice any time pass we don't notice anything we sit side by side in every class teacher thinks that I sound funny but she likes the way you sing.
Tonight I'll dream while I'm in bed when silly thoughts go through my head about the bugs and alphabet and when I wake tomorrow I'll bet that you and I will walk together again cause I can tell that we're going to be friends.

Sloan Churman Video Is A Hoax ?
VIDEO: Sarah Churman's "Hears" for the first time is a hoax?
If you have access to the Internet, or live within shouting distance of someone who does, then few past weeks you probably watched the wildly popular YouTube video of Sarah Churman, a 29-year-old deaf woman who, after receiving cochlear implants, was able to hear for the first time as seen: 29 Year Old Deaf Woman Hears Herself For The First Time.
There have been quite a few detractors on the internet stating that seems to indicate this video may be a fake/hoax..., because she is able to speak almost immediately after it is turned on. The video takes place in a doctor's office and shows Ms. Churman's reaction at the precise moment a lab technician turns on the implant device. (Implant device- Envoy Medical, the maker of the Esteem -pharmaceuticals.einnews.com).
What is Esteem Implants?
Made by Envoy Medical: www.EnvoyMedical.com similar as Cochlear implants, however, Envoy Medical is not the same as cochlear implants. Esteem Envoy Medical is visible and it is implemented behind the ear 100% invisible hearing technology is these are implantable devices for those who don't want to use hearing aids. The hearing implants kinda of new technology the surgery for Esteem implantation involves the usual techniques for mastoid surgery in addition to an extended facial recess surgical approach to access the ossicular chain. An incision is made behind the ear to allow access to the middle ear space. During the implant procedure, the ossicular chain is disarticulated (surgically separated). The tip of the Sensor and Driver extend into the middle ear. The surgeon connects the Sensor and Driver to your incus and stapes, respectively. The Sound Processor is implanted behind the ear, under the scalp. Insulated wires connect the Sound Processor to the Sensor and Driver as seen on YouTube: How the Esteem® Works (Animation)
Some people viewed this video at least a half-dozen times, and they can unequivocally state that it is the most inspiring 90-second video you will ever see that consists almost entirely of a woman crying (Presumably, she is crying because of the emotion of the moment, and not because the technician decided that Sarah's first audible sound should be a recording of, say, Fran Drescher's voice).
The story is grossly distorted or simply fake (to sell the product?). It is possbile to convince people to buy the product perhaps, which Sarah Churman got paid off the debt as Envoy Medical Corporation, the maker of the Esteem give her $30,000 to pay her back that Sarah's video fakery been successfully, as seen on YouTube with closed captioned as Sarah Churman first appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show: Here Is Video About Sarah Churman With A Device Called Esteem
Sloan Churman's video is only for the MONEY as the dirty business? as seen on Cochlear Business Is Dirty Business! with captioned. The Envoy Medical Corporation, the maker of the Esteem is dirty business to convinced people to buy the product?..is that right?..no?..you decide... because there is too many in the negative comments as seen on: Sloanchurman Video -All Comments mostly involve accusations that the scene was staged, that Churman is not really DEAF, that there is no such thing as "hearing," etc. Therefore, Sloan Churman's inspiring video where Sarah Churman hears her own voice for the first time after a lifetime of being Deaf.
The several people have a bunch of ignorant like naysayers, haters and extremist groups most assumed and accusations that hearing impaired that did the comments under Sloan Churman's inspiring video for instance, The Damage Has Been Done! which is absolutely no proof by hearing impaired people that did this. What. 50K comments, majority of hearing impaired people attacking?.. 50K? This is absolutely completely stupid jokes!
Anyway, one frequently cited piece of evidence supporting the hoax claim is that Sarah speaks pretty clearly which, according to many commenters, is impossible for someone who is actually Deaf. This evaluation is usually backed up with an explanation like, "My nephew went to summer camp with a guy who said his neighbor's aunt was completely Deaf, and she couldn't talk that well, so this must be a fake." It is possbile that Churman's video is a hoax, for instance: Yes, they "hear" now, but they're still not "Hearing"! with captioned.
These people clearly do not understand that proper speech requires hearing in order for the speaker to properly modulate their voice. For the same reason that people listening to loud music on headphones may either shout or speak too quietly, Deaf people typically have a difficult time vocalizing normally. One of the reasons that they are able to vocalize in the manner that they do is because their brain is using the vibration caused by their vocal chords to help modulate. Now that I’ve cleared that up let’s all get misty eyed for as we watch a truly transcendent moment of science and humanity.
However, the first sentence of that article proves the point. She was not Deaf. She had severe hearing loss. it is amazing what they did but it should not be title DEAF girl hearing herself for the First Time. She has heard herself before, just not clearly. maybe there's a line drawn between using the term 'Deaf', because there are 'legally blind' people that can still see. maybe there is 'legally Deaf'.
Some people have opinion of view about Sarah Churman's video.
The Sarah Churman Effect - First off, check out Sarah Churman's first blog soon after her Esteem was activated describing her awareness about the new sound around here.
1) It's fake. The whole thing was acted out in order to help promote the Esteem implantable hearing aid.
2) The title of the YouTube video was "misleading" and that she didn't really hear her voice for the first time.
3) Her voice sounded too "hearing-like" and could be heard clearly raising questions if her hearing loss is really severe.

Media Reporter interview with Sarah Churman on the show "TODAY"
By Michael Inbar: TODAY.com contributor updated 10/3/2011 9:58:26 AM ET.
Severely hearing impaired since birth, Sarah Churman had long managed to cope in a world where sounds came as if they were under water. But now, a surgical implant lets her hear her own voice, the sounds of birds singing, her two daughters chattering and her husband snoring.
“Yeah, that I didn’t listen to very long!” Churman told Matt Lauer on TODAY Monday as she recounted her first full week in the world of the hearing.
The pretty, 29-year-old Texan has became an internet sensation, thanks to a video taken by her husband, Sloan, as she heard her voice for the very first time last week. In the video, Sarah becomes overwhelmed with emotion, covering her mouth and bursting into tears, as she first hears herself talking. “I don’t want to hear myself cry,” she says and then laughs as she turns to her husband.
Sloan Churman posted the video on YouTube so friends and family could also witness the medical miracle, but a whole lot of others also looked in 8 million at last count. Appearing with his wife, Sloan told Lauer he almost didn’t tape the groundbreaking family event at all.
“I nearly didn’t videotape it, if it wasn’t for my mother saying, ‘You’re going to video this, we need to see this,” he said. “I wouldn’t have done it, because this was intimate for us; this was like getting married or having a child. I mean, seriously.”
Sarah was born with a rare genetic deformity that means she's missing the hair in her inner ear that transmits sound to the brain. She was fitted with her first hearing aid at age 2, but even with that technology she could only hear some vibrations and loud noises. She compensated throughout her life by becoming adept at reading people’s lips.
But earlier this year, Sloan Churman heard a radio ad for the Esteem Inner Ear Stimulator, billed as the only full implantable hearing aid for what his wife suffered from sensorineural hearing loss.
The $30,000 implant was pricey for the working class family. But they saved and borrowed Sloan’s mother helped out greatly and in July, Sarah had the procedure.
She told Lauer “millions of things” went through her mind as she prepared to hear her own voice for the first time last week.
“Half of me was just scared to death, that it was going to come on and I wasn’t going to like it, just because…this is all I’ve ever known for 29 years,” she said. “So the fear of the unknown, not knowing what it was going to sound like can be overwhelming. And it was just nervousness, (but) then the other half of me, ‘Oh hurry up and turn it on!’"
Sarah learned despite not being able to hear, she has a distinct Texas accent. “The funny thing is…the first time we traveled outside the country, everyone kept talking about our accents, so I was kind of surprised I didn’t think I had an accent,” she told Lauer.
But perhaps the biggest blessing was being able to hear the voices of her daughters, ages 4 and 20 months.
“That was pretty amazing,” she said. “My oldest (is) quite the little talker; she sounds so grown up and very articulate. And my youngest, I can hear the Texas accent in her voice.”
According to TODAY medical correspondent Dr. Nancy Snyderman, the fact that Sarah has an accent and can enunciate words fairly clearly shows she has had some hearing ability, but the still-new procedure is a distinct improvement on what a regular hearing aid can do.
“The cool thing about this is it uses the normal anatomy of the ear, so it takes the little bones in the middle ear, sends them to a processor, then sends them to the nerve that goes into the brain, and all this garbled stuff is turned into sound, so she can really hear it,” Snyderman said.
“Hearing aids normally have a lot of background noise and distortion; this makes it much better. It’s a surgical implantation approved by the FDA, but only a couple of hundred people have them.”

South Korean Sex Crime Movie Highlights Nation’s Anger
VIDEO: English Subtitles - South Korean sex crime movie highlights nation’s anger.
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - In 2006, four teachers and administrators at a South Korean School for the Deaf were convicted of raping or sexually molesting at least eight students, ages 7 to 22.
Due to the country's lenient sentencing for sexual abuse, only two of the four officials served jail time. The case received limited attention at the time, but a new film based on the story has helped to fuel the nation's growing outrage.
The New York Times reports that Dogani or The Crucible, which was released about a month ago, has now been seen by 4.4 million people, or nearly one in 10 South Koreans.
The case could have been largely forgotten if it wasn't for a newspaper intern who blogged about the trial. After one official at the Inhwa School for the hearing impaired was sentenced to only a year in jail for raping a 13-year-old girl, a Deaf man sitting in the courtroom screamed and tried desperately to express his anger through sign langage. Lee Ji-won wrote, "It was clear that the man was shouting, ‘This is wrong! This is wrong!"' The blog inspired author Gong Ji-young to write a novel about the crimes committed at the school, and now the film based on the book has brought the story to an even larger audience.
As The Economist puts it, the response to the film has been "nothing short of earth-shaking." The film has inspired South Koreans to express their anger over a legal system that routinely allows those convicted of sex crimes to walk free.
Six people were indicted in the Inhwa case, and two of the perpetrators went to jail for less than a year. Another two were given a suspended sentence, and the others were acquitted because the statute of limitations on sex crimes had passed.
This disturbing outcome was typical, according to a report issued last year by South Korea's education ministry. Most teachers found guilty of sex crimes are sentenced to a salary cut and a short suspension... Read more at http://jezebel.com/5850770/south-korean-sex-crime-movie-highlights-nations-anger

The Real Story of Deaf Teenage Girl
The Real Story of Japanese Deaf Teenage Girl.
Video in english description - This is the real story about deaf teenage girl in Japan in few years ago...
The story is about a japanese deaf girl, her name is Sonee and she was the best artist student in the Deaf school in Japan, and suddenly shortly before she committed suicide, she drew this picture, and scanned it and posted it online.
Therefore, in South Korea this story broke out and it spread like wildfire. There are various posts around in Korean forums that say that the viewer gets drawn to the girl's blue eyes, they say they can detect a hint of wraith and sadness within the eyes. Maybe the girl had died with so much sadness and anger that her spirit haunts the image, or maybe the image provokes sadness. The freaky bit is this, they say it is hard for a person to stare into the girl's eyes for longer than 5 minutes... There are reports that some people have taken thier own lives after doing so... People says the picture changes... Can you tell it? But first at all, you have to click full screen of this video and do not move your eyes, just stare at the picture and you will notice that the picture is suddenly changing...

Silenced (2011) - South Korea - Trailer (HD)
Video in english subtitles: Silenced (2011) - South Korea - Trailer (HD).
In 2005 a shocking set of sexual abuse cases happened at a school for Deaf girls. The teachers involved received relatively light sentences - that maybe about to change. SILENCED, based on a novel details the drama that went during that horrific time in perhaps one of the most controversial films of the year. As of the time of writing, the entire nation is in an uproar, that at the very least, reveals in stark detail the power of film. The film has also been at number one for weeks.
Video by koreanfilmbiz
More information about the film can be found on the official Kobiz website: http://www.koreanfilm.or.kr/jsp/films/index/filmsView.jsp?movieCd=20112534
Based off the novel 'Dokani' - The Crucible tells the story of an art teacher whom begins teaching at a Deaf school. When he begins teaching there, he is dreaded by the uncomfortable atmosphere and fears there is more to the school than meets the eye, and there is. He, and a human rights activist, crack down on the school and their unfair dealings, and soon descovers that there is a man whom sexually assaults the little girls there. Movie was proposed by leading actor Gong Yoo, whom fell in love with the book during his time in the milirary, and felt the book needed to be adapted into film. This also marks Gong Yoo's 1st role outside of romantic comedies, which he was type-casted with.
The Crucbile hits South Korean theater, September 22nd, 2011.
This movie is on based true story as seen on article: Police to Reinvestigate Sex-Abuse Claim at Deaf School -english.chosun.com

I Am Deaf, But A Little d?
I'm Deaf, but a little d?
Basically in a Deaf comminity you are either a little d or a big D. People would say, She is a little d as she can talk and she is in the hearing community and she have coclear implants but she still have big D traits? like having a lot of Deaf friends and she can sign. So what does that make me then? She is "D"-DEAF!

Stop Domestic Violence Promo from Lavender Revolution - a social media movement to end violence against women.
During past 5 years, more than 6,000 American women have been killed by their spouses and lovers in our own country. This is more than the 4,000 U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined during the same time period. Domestic Violence is a war zone! We cannot ignore this war against our daughters anymore.

Going Berdy Exclusive Interview With Sean Berdy
Going Berdy exclusive interview with Sean Berdy in captioned.
Going Berdy exclusive interview with the ABC TV show "Switched At Birth" star Sean Berdy.
Going Berdy has a wonderful opportunity to interview Sean Berdy, who plays "Emmet Bledsoe" from "Switched at Birth". We were allowed to ask 5 questions, but we were only able to record as of part of the 2nd question.
Video by GoingBerdy
WHY IS THERE NO SOUND?
We removed the sound so as not to confuse those who are reading the subtitles. There was an interpreter, but not everything that Sean said was translated orally, so we had to redo the translation for completeness. The interpreter who helped in translating the second time around is Jennifer. I (Kat, GB Admin) also translated a little bit.
WHY SO FEW QUESTIONS?
We were asked to limit our questions to 5 maximum. We can only pray that we will have yet another opportunity such as this to interview Sean again, but in a more laid back state.
Visit www.GoingBerdy.com, where fans of Sean Berdy from all over the world gather!
CORRECTION: In the end credits, there was a typo for EvelinaGaina Entertainment. Please note that this is the correct spelling, and we sincerely apologize to EvelinaGaina Entertainment for the misspelling.

LONDON - The BBC has been criticized by deaf campaign groups over "ludicrous" computer-generated subtitles that branded the Labor leader "Ed Miller Band" and announced a visit by the "Arch b**** of Canterbury". When Haters Gonna Still Hate, Stop The Deaf Bullies
VIDEO: When haters gonna still hate, stop the Deaf bullies.
The Vlogsphere/Blogsphere are so obsessed with Sloan Churman's inspiring video where Sarah Churman hears her own voice for the first time after a lifetime of being Deaf as seen on 29 Year Old Deaf Woman Hears Herself For The First Time which still debating on the internet.
The several people most assumed and accusations that hearing impaired that did the comments under Sloan Churman's inspiring video for instance, The Damage Has Been Done! which is absolutely no proven by hearing impaired people that did this. What. 50K comments, majority of hearing impaired people attacking?.. 50K? oh puh-eeease.
Some time passed before I found an excellent example of the earlier point as similar of the videos.
An amazing and touching video of a young woman turning on her passionate message on Youtube whereas a simple, "Stop The Deaf Bullies Video" posted by Emily Darcy which she is implantable hearing as Sarah Churman would have been both sufficient and polite, many people chose to turn the video's comment section into their own personal political platform. Several of them did it in the most tactless way possible, offering up flat out insults and not even constructive points. Many people even attacked the beliefs of the videos, therefore, there's no difference between these the videos.
But then the sad thing is that you'll get your usual haters in the comment section as always by a bunch of idiots and then you have a bunch of ignorant like naysayers, haters and extremist people who can't even understand that Deaf/HH people can speaks out how they feels. You'll have to spend some time to find and read those nasty comments as you can seen on: Stop The Deaf Bullies -All Comments
There was a competition to make a video about the 'Deaf bullying' so I thought to make one because I'm also Deaf and just showing the haters out there what being Deaf is really like. Bullying the Deaf people is pathetic because it's not their fault for being Deaf. I hope all of you's understand this video cause basically of the Deaf people do get bullied for it, but look, we've got the most amazing life.
For your information, DYV posted this article, anyhow, When Haters Gonna Still Hate And The Clueless Ones Continue To Be Clueless known as blogger kokonutpundits realized and changed the story to cover it up as continued biased editing is bringing it and contributors into disrepute after we posted this issued, You can see kokonutpundits' ingorant comment on theholism's blog article "The Damage Has Been Done". It's obvious stereotypical. As seen on Ridor9th's vlog related this issue: October 18, 2011 Tidbits - This is for you, Mickey Mouse (KokonutPundits)
